Wednesday, April 26, 2023 (10 a.m.to 11 a.m.)

Eva Karpati, Moderator

Topics to be covered in this final session included:

  • How seniors can be proactive to protect themselves from abuse;
  • Accessing the One Voice resource kit and website.
Summary:

At our third One Voice session, The Ways That the Community Can Help with Domestic Violence, we heard from Reverend Michelle Singh, who described a response plan, the Five R’s, that one can use to validate a domestic violence victim. Margaret of One Voice spoke about a plan to leave, and Detective Lee Ann West of Toronto Police Services talked in detail about police response and support. Eva Karpati of the National Council of Jewish Women of Canada, Toronto’s One Voice Project provided an overview of the ongoing work and the previous webinars.

This webinar was most informative and invaluable in providing information for our members.

The NCJWC Toronto’s One Voice Project members are grateful to the RTOERO for their kind contribution to the Toolkit from the Raffle at the Champagne Breakfast on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. They are very appreciative of the Approval of the RTOERO Community Grant of $4000. On September 30, 2022, Patricia Rogers, Chair of the RTOERO Community Grants and Scholarship Committee, communicated that: “I am pleased to advise you that your 2022 Community Grant application has been approved by the RTOERO Board of Directors upon the recommendation of the Community Grants and Scholarships Committee. The Committee commends you for your worthwhile project and recommends that it be fully funded for the proposed amount of $4000.”

“NCJWC Toronto’s One Voice Project members are incredibly grateful to be the 2022 Community Grant Recipient for our Guidebook on Domestic Violence. This generous funding will assist in disseminating this vital information as a hard-copy booklet and in digital format. We are also grateful to RTOERO District 23, North District for the recognition of the importance of our work. You have become an essential partner in the elimination of this abhorrent violence”.
