February, 2023 e-Newsletter

Jan 01, 2023

February is the month of hearts and family and is the shortest month of the year!

We celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th and Family Day on February 20th. Hopefully all will be able to enjoy some gatherings with friends and family and perhaps enjoy some winter activities. In two weeks, we will gather round our TV’s to watch the Super Bowl. Get the chilli on the stove, or in the InstaPot, for the game day meal! Rihanna will highlight the half time show! A few days later basketball enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the NBA All Star game with hopefully at least some Raptors participation’. By mid month, Spring Training will begin and the revamped Toronto Blue Jays will report to Dunedin. The Maple Leafs will continue to be engaged in securing a playoff position. It’s a great month for sports’ enthusiasts.

This month begins with the second webinar in our Community Project series on Domestic Violence entitled: “Out of the Shadows: Recognizing Domestic Abuse and Supportive Behaviours” on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Registration for the session is outlined below! Please also note registration information for upcoming events: Frank and Ella, Cookie Decorating. You must register to participate.

Our regular ZOOM sessions for E-Devices, and Book Club are outlined below. We remind you to contact your convener to let them know you are planning on participation. North York Strollers and Pole Walking will return when the wintry weather has cleared. All other regular activity information is explained below.

The March edition of STONY Bridges is in the Editor’s hands being prepared to send to publishing. You should receive your copies in early March. Our website has been upgraded by Webmaster Merv Mascarenhas: [email protected] All registration forms, payment options and up-to-date information is available for you to peruse.

Here’s hoping February’s colder temperatures bring bright blue skies and longer daylight hours to lift spirits in spite of the chills. Try and get out to enjoy the sun’s warmer rays!
